Among several new trends in web design that have emerged in 2012, responsive design has been the biggest of them all.
So, what’s in store for 2013, on might ponder?
Here are 4 possible trends to look for in 2013:
#1: More responsive design
While responsive design is here to stay, what will change is the focus on breakpoints depending on the size of the devices – which the iPad Mini challenged when it was released. The new approach will possibly include ensuring the the responsiveness of the site will be based on the design instead.
#2: The End of Flash
Flash is, for all practical purposes, old. Most technologies such as HTML5, JavaScript and CSS3 can do what Flash does. Moreover, it doesn’t work well with most mobile devices and updating it can be a problem.
#3: Large Images for Maximum Impact
More and more websites are actually using large impact images on their home pages so as to make an impact on audiences who do use large screens. However, these websites are also cognizant of only presenting these large images to an audience that uses large screens, while also keeping in mind, bandwidth and data usage.
#4: More White Space
What became apparent was that by the end of 2012, more and more websites began to adopt the “white space” concept and this trend will continue into 2013. Two reasons why this happens is because of the emergence of responsive design as well as a clean design aesthetic.
