We live in an age where websites and the internet is no longer exclusively accessed on computers, whether it is a desktop or a laptop. The advances in mobile technology allow us to visit webpages on our phones, tablets, TVs, and even refrigerators! And because of this versatility that our devices and gadget offer, as web designers, we have to keep in mind the type of device that our website is going to be viewed on.
One of the most annoying things that a potential visitor can experience is them taking forever to load your site, just to see it not work properly because it runs on flash and their device is not capable of viewing it. There are two ways to go about this; one is to make a mobile version of the website, the other is to design your website so that it is easily viewable on any and all platforms
Making a mobile version of your site can be difficult and might cost more since you will be making a second version of your entire site. The benefit of this though is that it assures that it will work on a mobile device and is properly scaled so that all the content on a page is seen on the screen.
Keeping in mind your site’s mobile compatibility is also a viable option. This will incur less cost but might take up more time. A good tip though is to stay away from flash and keep animations simple.
