Internet privacy and security are constantly challenged by hackers all over the world all the time. Yet, many are uploading their important information including family photos, music and even cherished personal information to iCloud and other cloud services. Why do they do that even under the threat of hacking? Ease of use. Information stored in cloud can be easily accessed by any of the many devices we use every day.
Efforts to protect users and their information have been going on for decades. No matter what new ways we find to protect users, hackers find another way to illegally access personal as well as secured information.
In addition to safeguards created by cloud service providers users should also take some steps to protect their information. They should strengthen their passwords. Do not use the same password for many devices and sites they visit frequently. Especially do not use the same password for financial information such as banks, credit card accounts and brokerage accounts. They need to learn from corporations who are vigilant in protecting their data. One such measure that they implement is known as two-factor authentication, a method to supplement a password with something very personal to the user.
